October 2, 2017
The Oakland International Airport (OAK) is reaching out to nearby communities to inform everyone about the upcoming Fleet Week 2017 activities. Fleet Week will bring the Blue Angels (a high performance Naval air team) to the Bay Area in October. The Blue Angels perform each year during Fleet Week and will be based at the Oakland International Airport for the second year in a row. OAK is reaching out to nearby communities to inform and make residents aware of the unusual flight activity associated with Fleet Week 2017.
OAK recognizes community noise concerns associated with such an event. Although North Field departures and arrivals will occur, OAK Airport has worked with the Blue Angels and the FAA to minimize noise by using the South Field main runway to the extent practical.
Performance Times
The planned schedule for the high performance flights when aircraft noise will be most noticeable is as follows:
- Sunday, October 1 at 6:00 PM: Blue Angels arrival (South Field, Main Runway)
- Monday, October 2 from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM: Media flights (South Field, Main Runway)
- Thursday, October 5 at 1:00 PM: Airshow practice (North Field)
- Friday, October 6 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM: Airshow flights (North Field)
- Saturday, October 7 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM: Airshow flights (North Field)
- Sunday, October 8 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM: Airshow flights (North Field)

All times are approximate and are subject to weather and other delays. During practice sessions and the air show demonstrations, airport neighbors may experience an unusual level of aircraft activity and noise. For the Blue Angels general schedule please visit our website at www.flyquietoak.com.
