Harbor Bay Intercultural Committee

The Harbor Bay Intercultural Committee (IC), a subcommittee of the CHBI Owners’ Association, was founded in May 1998. Since its inception, the IC has organized numerous seminars on health, safety, and a variety of other subjects that are of interest to our members. The IC also sponsors a children’s Mandarin class. One of the IC’s major activities has been the organization of the annual Lunar New Year (Spring) Festival at Harbor Bay Landing Shopping Center. The IC has donated the proceeds from game ticket sales at the festival to the Alameda Food Bank. The IC has also supported the Community of Harbor Bay Isle’s Annual Community Picnic & Softball Game, benefiting the Midway Shelter of Alameda and the Harbor Bay Isle Community Garage Sale, in which past proceeds have benefited the Alameda Free Library and the Alameda Meals on Wheels.

Membership

Membership in the Intercultural Committee is open to all residents of Harbor Bay Isle and the local community. The annual membership fee is $10 per family. For more information, or to submit your IC Membership Application, please contact Elizabeth Tong at 523-8890.

IC members can participate in the weekly tea gathering, Tai Chi instruction, seminars, outings, lunches, and dinners. A video lending library service is available to our members. Members can also enjoy discounts at various restaurants.
